Talk It Out:
Resources for Single Empty-nesters

Note from Counting the Cost Editor Nancy Twigg:

Recently I had the pleasure of meeting a Counting the Cost subscriber at a speaking engagement. As we talked, 'Barb' told me she really enjoys the newsletter but sometimes feels left out because so many of the topics discussed relate to families with young children. As a now-single woman, she faces a new phase in life: being an empty-nester. Unfortunately she has not found any resources that address this phase of life from the perspective of a single parent.

In response to Barb's comments, I asked our readers if any of them could help Barb. I asked, 'Do you know of any books, websites, support groups, etc., for empty-nesters who are either divorced or widowed? Or, if you have been in a similar situation, where did you find support to address specific challenges you faced?'

Response:

"There is a nationwide care group called Divorce Care meeting in churches around my area.  It is for separated and divorced people and it helped me a lot. There is a small charge for this. Barb can find more information at www.divorcecare.com.

There is also another group for counseling I attended called Life Skills.  It was weekly for 6 months.  Payment on a sliding scale." ~ Kris
