CTC Readers' Poll:
Future Topics of Discussion

In the March 15, 2009 issue of the newsletter, Counting the Cost editor Nancy Twigg asked readers this question:

"What topics would you like to see covered in upcoming issues of Counting the Cost? In what area of simple or frugal living would you like to learn more?"

Responses:

"'Making your own' such as laundry detergent, spray cleaner, etc." ~ Jesse

"MY suggestions, please...

1) HOW to MARKET a self published book?

2) During massive re-org of personal belongings --- what's BEST --- donate, consign, or yard sale?" ~ Anonymous

"I already find the articles informative and helpful. Other (or more) topics I would like to see, are:

1) an inspirational quotation.

2) perhaps a short bio of an inspiring person from history, people like Marie Curie, Helen Keller, St. Patrick, Thomas Edison, the great artists, inventors,  etc., inspiring lives, and what it was that inspired THEM to do great things.

3) more articles on simple living." ~ Vickie

"I have a lot of things around my house that are too nice to give away, too valuable, but I really don't know how to sell them. I know I could have a garage sale, but even that seems overwhelmingly hard to me for some reason. Is there someway to break it down or teach me how to sell so I can move all this stuff I've accumulated my whole life out of here without just taking a loss? Thanks." ~ Katy

"I'd like to see the topic of living frugally but not at someone else's expense. For example, who makes what we buy at the Dollar Store? Are they paid fairly, work reasonable hours, are not children, safe conditions, etc.? How can we shop frugally with conscience? What about things produced in a way that ultimately (environmentally) harms our children/grandchildren?" ~ Jennifer

"Balancing caring for aging parents (one is in assisted living with Alzheimer's, the other lives next door) while still raising your own family and needing to attend to your own health needs." ~ Sherrie

"Clothing our kids for less, but still looking great. Kids eat free nights." ~ Donielle

"I'd like to ask, 'Do you use coupons?' If you don't, and you get the Sunday paper, what do you do with the coupons?" ~ Betty

"I'm not sure if this has been done recently, so if so, I apologize. I am interested in homemade cleaning solutions that readers have used and that work well. Any tips would be of interest for me." ~ Jen

"Creative gardening ideas: low cost, low space techniques would be great!  (I recently discovered 'lasagna' gardening technique and I am implementing it this year in 3 of my garden areas.) Indoor gardens? Low water gardens? Fruits, vegetables, etc." ~ Denise

"What about men? Much of what you write is about is for women and their clutter and busyness..." ~ Major Susan
