Keep It Simple, Sister
KISS good-bye everything that weighs you down and holds you back
Books are so much more interesting to
read when they include examples and testimonies from everyday people.
Of course I want Keep It Simple, Sister to be interesting so...I want to hear your story!
Please look over
the list below to see if you have a story or personal example that
fits any of these situations. If so and if you'd like to share your story,
simply click on that particular scenario to send an email message
to tell me about it. Or if you'd like to respond to several different
scenarios, you can put them all into one email message and send it to
me at nancy@countingthecost.com.
This is your chance to share your story
with the world! If
your story is used in the book, only your first name would be
used. Or, if privacy is a concern, a pseudonym can be used. Remember:
sharing your story does not imply that you have all the answers or
that you never struggle with that particular issue. It just means that
God did something special in your life that others can possibly learn
from. Stories
Needed:
* Someone
who learned from a particular experience that possessions cannot truly satisfying
inner longings (cannot truly gratify your needs for security, purpose,
relationship with God, etc).
* Someone
who has learned about being content in challenging circumstances by looking to
God and trusting his goodness
* Someone
who had specific experiences that helped her learn not to worry so
much by trusting in God
* Someone
who had an experience that showed it is not wise to trust in worldly things (job security,
relationships, good health, etc) but learned to only look to God for
real security
* Someone
who overcame or is in the process of overcoming a low self-esteem with God’s help. What made you
finally realize how precious you are to God?
* Someone
who had an experience that revealed an over-inflated view of self and
one's own abilities (acted like she didn’t need
God) and learned to see how totally dependent she is on God
* Someone
who has gotten out of major debt. What made you see you needed to get
out of debt, how did you do it, what blessings have you received for
being out of debt
* Someone
who saw how much clutter was holding her back in various areas of life
(possible example: not wanting to show hospitality because home was so
cluttered) and is learning to conquer the clutter in her life
* Someone who learned
or is learning to appreciate "enough" and be
satisfied with having less and truly enjoying it rather than having
more and not being able to enjoy it all
* Someone
who had an experience that helped her learn not to try to fix problems with money/spending, but
instead to look to God for his healing/solutions/problem solving
* Someone
who is a modern-day Martha of sorts; someone who had experiences that
helped her learn to say
"No," to "good" thing so she could say,
"Yes" to the most important things in her life
* Someone
who has found a way to make time for God and spiritual growth
consistently despite having a very busy life. (How did you come to see
the importance of this when many other important things are vying for
your attention?)
* Someone
who had an experience that helped her learn that living well is not dependent on her income; someone
who saw that she could enjoy life fully without having a lot of things
money can buy
* Someone
who through experience learned the importance of stewardship (using God-given resources
responsibly and with a sense of accountability). Someone who came to
believe that she should be careful with all her spending--even the
small amounts--out of gratitude and respect for what God has done for
her family
